It's a small world

by Becky Hackworth

I am here to cover the Tevis for the internet, but one of the people I wanted to hook up with was Linda Fisher from Colorado. I went to Jr High with her younger sister Carol in Southern California, many moons ago. Linda moved to Colorado to raise arabian horses. Low and behold, she now rides endurance.

This year at the convention Linda won an entry to Tevis. And the story goes on...Linda rode and trained for endurance in '73 with and english woman named Minette Rice Edwards back in tiny little Grand Terrace California. Minette decided to ride (for fun) the Malibu 50. This was her and her horses' first endurance ride. They won 1st place and BC! She decided that this wasn't so hard, so entered Tevis. Minette came in 4th and won the Haggin Cup. Linda didn't fare so well. She lost her grey mare to colic earlier that year, and never got to Tevis. Then or since....until the convention this year. So armed with her won entry, here she is. She and her 40 foot long trailer with living quarters...she also took a wrong turn and had to get turned around on the road into Robie Park!

So here's Linda with sister Carol, setting up camp, and Roger Blalock comes up and asks if Linda just happens to have an extra horse, his is lame. Linda met Roger last year at the Rocky Mt Ride. Well, Linda had brought another horse for sister Carol to ride around on, and as her own back-up horse. #1 horse was fine, so she has allowed Roger to vet-in with her horse "Durango". Both look good, and all are ready to "Ride really Ride" in the morning....
